We Love Volunteers!

Our community members volunteer for ICA events for various reasons - to meet neighbours, apply skills and give back to the community. As a volunteer-run association, we rely on our dedicated volunteers to keep the ICA moving forward.

At the ICA, our Volunteer Program strives to put your skills to use and to provide meaningful volunteering opportunities. • Inglewood Community Hall

The Inglewood Community Association (ICA) is seeking a part-time Handyman/Groundskeeper to work all year round on an as-needed basis at the Community Hall.

Approx. 10 - 12 hrs/wk. Basic handyman skills are required. Hours are flexible for the most part, depending on rental bookings and your availability - other than for snow clearing in winter, which will depend on snow fall.

This position would suit a retired person who lives in or close to Inglewood. Someone who wants to stay active and enjoys working outdoors. Applicants must be reasonably strong and fit, 100% reliable & trustworthy, have a flexible daytime schedule and their own vehicle.

Handyman duties are related to general repairs and maintenance both inside and out.

Snow-clearing shifts: The goal is to keep the sidewalks snow & ice-free as much as possible during the winter. We have a snow blower for heavy snowfalls but paths generally require shovelling, as needed and within a reasonable time.

During the summer months, grass mowing is much more flexible and can be done as-needed, according to your own schedule. Other duties include litter pick-up, some exterior painting, clearing eaves, clipping hedges, etc. and generally keeping the grounds looking clean & tidy.

Please e-mail hallmanager@icacalgary.com with a resume and some information about yourself or register here on-line and we will contact you.

      • ICA Community Rink

Embrace the cold next winter to join your neighbours and support the kids who make great use of our local rink.

The 3 sheets of ice for skating are maintained entirely by local volunteers, so volunteering your time makes winter skating possible for our community.  The start and end dates will depend on the weather - ice maintenance is a 2 - 3 month commitment (usually Dec -Feb)

Volunteers will be clearing snow and flooding the rinks. All tools and training are supplied. Choose a shift:

      Mon, Wed or Fri:  8.30 - 11pm
      Sun:  9 - 11.30am

      • ICA Rink (Skate Shack)

Embrace the cold next winter to join your neighbours and support the kids who make great use of our local rink.

Volunteers will be working in the concession booth at the ICA Skate Shack, selling drinks and snacks to skaters.  Training provided.  The Concession enables the Skate Shack to be open to skaters at the weekends for a cozy place to change into their skates and to warm up with a cup of hot chocolate!

Without volunteers, we cannot run the Concession and without the Concession, we cannot have the Skate Shack open!

You can choose regular or occasional shifts.  Saturday &/or Sunday afternoons, 12pm - 2.30pm or 2.30pm - 5pm.  The season start and end date will depend on the weather but it is usually about mid-December to end of February - a 2 or 3-month commitment at most!

Call the Hall: 403-264-3835 or e-mail: volunteers@icacalgary.com or register here and we will be in contact with you.

Volunteer your time at the Skate Shack and make winter skating a warm and social activity for our community!
